Media reports say General Administration of Customs officials seized more than 100,000 tons of zombie meat, long-expired frozen meat products including chicken wings and beef, worth more than 3 billion yuan. Some of the meat had been frozen for more than 40 years.
据媒体报道，海关总署官员日前查扣10万余吨僵尸肉，即冻鸡翅、冻牛肉等早已过的冷冻肉商品，总价值逾30亿元人民币。其中部分肉冷冻超越40年。
僵尸肉（zombie meat / long-expired frozen meat products）指冰冻多年销往市场的冻肉，多为来自美国和欧洲国家的走私品，最后流向二三线城市的小饭店（small restaurants）、路边摊（sidewalk snack booths）。容易见到的走私路径是，走私职员（smugglers）从境外以底价采购冻品（purchase the frozen meat for very low prices）并用冷藏集装箱（in refrigerated containers）发至香港，之后再发往越南。在中越边境（border areas）芒街等地拆解（consignments are pided up ）后，再雇人以蚂蚁搬家的方法将冻品运到境内。
为了牟利，境内外有关职员互相勾结（collude with their associates），形成从供货（offering supplies）、走私（smuggling）、运输（transportation）、储藏（storage）、加工（manufacturing）和销售（sales）的隐秘的一条龙服务（form a complete and secret supply chain）。
